The Department opposes this bill.

 

PROBLEM/BACKGROUND

 

The bill would establish a legislative work group to promote stable sources of long-term financial support for the Game and Fish Protection programs.

 

DESCRIPTION OF BILL

 

SB 927 would establish a workgroup to examine sources of long-term, stable revenue for the Game and Fish Protection programs.  The workgroup would consist of representatives from the House and Senate standing committees on natural resources, representatives from the Natural Resources Commission, and other interested parties.  The work from this group will be detailed in a report that is to be provided to the legislature.

The Natural Resources Policy Committee on Finance and Administration already meets the goal of this legislation.  They provide an ongoing public forum for input into all financial areas of the Department.
